Fabs Versus Natural Animals

Watch the video below.

  1. What sort of animal do you think this is? (Give both the scientific name and the common name).
  2. Describe what the animal looks like.  If it were a fab, then what creatures could have it been "fabricated" or engineered from?
  3. Read this fact sheet.
    • The Tasmanian Tiger was not a mammal. What was it?
    • How much did adults weigh?  How tall was the animal?
    • What did they eat?
    • Why were they outlawed and hunted?
    • Do you believe they are extinct forever?  How could they bring them back?

  1. The animal was a marsupial. It looked like a pouched dog with a wolfs head and stripes on its rear and a kangaroo like tale. If it were a fab it would be a wolf a tiger and a bird.

  2. Fabs versus Natural animals
The common name of the animal is Tasmanian tiger. The scientific name of the animal is Thylacine. The Tasmanian tiger looks like a tiger and a wolf. If the Tasmanian tiger was a fab it would be a tiger, wolf, kangaroo and leopard mix. The Tasmanian tiger is a marsupial. The adults weigh 15-30 kg and were about 58cm tall. The Tasmanian tiger ate birds and other animals such as wallabies and kangaroos. They were outlawed because they were attacking sheep and poultry. No I don’t think they are extinct forever. They could bring them back by using DNA to clone a Thylacine.

  3. I think the animal in the video was a Tasmanian tiger or the scientific name the thylacine. The Tasmanian tiger looks like a wolf at the front but has tiger stripes on the back. It also has very sharp claws. If it were a fab, I think it would be a wolf, tiger or a dog. The Tasmanian tiger was a marsupial and not a mammal. Adults weighed 15-30kg and stood about 58cm. Tasmanian tigers ate birds and small animals like kangaroos and wallabies. They were outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep and poultry. I don’t think that the Tasmanian tiger will be brought back and if they do bring it back I think they will use some sort a chemical and clone the animal. Nathan

  4. I think that the animal is a Tasmanian Tiger. I think the scientific name for it is the Thylacine cynocephalus. 2) I think that the Tasmanian Tiger looks like a tiger, a dog and a Kangaroo put together to make one animal. It mainly looks like a dog with a Wolfs head, though. If it were a fab, it would have been engineered from a wolf, a dog, a Tiger, and a Kangaroo. 3) The Tasmanian Tiger was not a mammal. It was a marsupial. 4) Adults weighed from 15-30kg, and stood about 58cm (2') high at the shoulders. Thylacines ate birds, and small animals like wallabies and kangaroos. 5) They were outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep and poultry, and a bounty of one pound was put on each of their heads. 6) I don’t think that they will be extinct forever. They could bring them back by using DNA from preserved specimens to clone a Thylacine (so that they can track them down). They could also try their best to lure the Thylacine back by putting out some small animals (that have passed away) and some raw meat etc. for the Thylacine to eat. Some Thylacines may be almost be dead from starvation.

  5. I think this animal is a Tasmanian tiger for the common name and is a thylacine cynocephalus for the scientific name.
If it was a fab it would have been made of a dog, kangaroo, a wolf and a tiger.
The Tasmanian tiger was not a mammal it was a marsupial. They weighed 15-30 pounds and were about 58cm tall. They ate small animals like birds, kangaroos and wallabies. They were outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep and poultry. I believe they are not extinct forever because they can bring them back by using persevered DNA to clone a thylacine.

  6. The name of the animal is called a Tasmanian tiger and the scientific name is thylacinus cynocephalus. The Tasmanian tiger looks like a dog with strips, if it was a fab. I think it would like a regular tiger with strips on its back. A Tasmanian tiger is a dog with a wolf head. A adult weighs about 15-30kg and a Tasmanian tiger is 58 cm tall. The Tasmanian tiger eat small animal like birds and mice. The Tasmanian tiger was outlawed and hunted because people needed their fur and flesh to keep warm and to eat the flesh. I think that Tasmanian tiger are not extinct forever because the last one died in a zoo in 1957.I think we can bring them back because we can believe that they exist. Sarah S.

  7. • Tasmanian Tiger, or the scientific name thylacine .
    • It had a thick like kangaroo tail, a wolfs tail, a large rear opening pouch, and 13 to 19 brown stripes down its back.
    • The Tasmanian tiger is not a mammal it is a protected species.
    • Adult’s way 15-30 kg. It was about 58cm (‘2).
    • Thylacines ate small animals such as bird’s kangaroos, and wallabies.
    • They started to attack sheep and poultry.
    • No they won’t be instinct for ever they will start cloning the thylacines

  8. 1. I think this is a cross between a tiger, wolf, kangaroo; its scientific name is a Thylacine and its common name Tasmanian tiger.
    2. Looks like half wolf half kangaroo and tiger. From wolf, kangaroo, tiger.
    3. The Tasmanian tiger is a marsupial.
Adults weighed from 15-30kg, and stood about 58cm (2') high at the shoulder.
Thylacines ate birds, and small animals like wallabies and kangaroos.
After European settlement they were outlawed because they started to attack sheep and poultry, and a bounty of one pound was put on each of their heads.
Scientists like Professor Michael Archer are becoming increasingly excited about the possibility of using DNA from preserved specimens to clone a thylacine

  9. I think that the Tasmanian tiger is a mix of many different animals. The Tasmanian tiger’s real name is thylacine. I think that the Tasmanian tiger is a mix of bear , kangaroo, dog and also a hyena. If it was a fab, I think it could be from a tiger and a wolf and also a kangaroo. The Tasmanian tiger is a marsupial. The Tasmanian tiger weighs 15-30 kg and it stands 58cm (2”) high. The Tasmanian tiger ate birds, wallabies and kangaroos. The Tasmanian tiger was outlawed and hunted because, it attacked sheep and the poultry. I think that they could not bring Tasmanian tigers back to life because there are no other tigers left to take DNA from. katie

  10. The Tasmanian Tiger is it`s common name and it`s scientific name is thylacine cynocephalus was it`s name. It looks like it is a wolf with tiger stripes and a kangaroo tail. it looks like it has the face of a Pitbull the stripes of a tiger at the back and the tail of a kangaroo and the legs and paws of a wolf and last it looks to be the size of a fox. This animal is a marsupial. Adults weigh from 15-30kg. They where 58cm high at the shoulder. Tasmanian Tiger ate small birds and kangaroos and wallabies .They were outlawed because they started to attack sheep. No I do not think that they will be extinct forever because scientist may be able to get DNA from preserved specimens. Amelia

  11. They animals actual scientific name is a thylacinus cynocephalus or a Tasmanian tiger. The thylacine looks to me like a zebra, wolf or dog and a cat with a long tail. The thylacine is a marsupial not a mammal. The marsupial weighted at 15-30Kg and it was about 58 cm tall. The thylacines ate only two things chickens and sheep’s. They were hunted in Australia because they would kill farmer’s sheep. I think that some might still be hiding somewhere in Australia.

I think they will bring them back one day by using some sort of a DNA that they have from a thylacine before they were extinct. I think that will make a clone of some sort.

  15. The name of this animal is the Thylacine or the Tasmanian Tiger. If the Tasmanian Tiger was a fab I think the creatures it had been fabricated from would be a dog, a tiger, a kangaroo, and a wolf. I also noticed in the video that the Thylacine was very friendly and playful. The Tasmanian Tiger has a long, kangaroo like tail and has stripes like a tiger’s on it’s back. It also had a wolf like head and it’s hind legs also look quite similar to a kangaroo’s legs. The Thylacine was not a mammal but was actually a marsupial. Adults weighed from 15-30kg and stood about 58cm tall up to the shoulder. They ate birds and small animals such as kangaroos and wallabies. Tasmanian Tigers were outlawed and hunted because they had started attacking the European settlement’s sheep and poultry. I don’t think that Tasmanian Tigers are gone forever because there are still places in the world that haven’t really been explored and also scientists haven’t looked in every single place in Tasmania. Scientists have the hope that someday they will be able to bring back the Thylacine by cloning it with DNA from preserved specimens. Jada

  17. The animal’s name is a Tasmanian tiger. The scientific name is a thylacine. The animal looks like a wolf, dog and a tiger. If it was fabricated or engineered I think it would need a dog, tiger, wolf and kangaroo. The Tasmanian tiger was not a mammal it was a marsupial. 18. 1) I think that the animal is a Tasmanian Tiger/Thylacine/Thylacine Cynocephalus.
    2) I think that the Tasmanian Tiger looks like it was fabricated from the animals a wolf, a tiger, a kangaroo and a bit of dog.
    3) The Tasmanian Tiger was not a mammal. It was a Marsupial.
    4) Adults weighed from 15-30kg. The Tasmanian Tiger stood about 58cm (2’) high at the shoulders.
    5) They ate birds, wallabies and kangaroos.
    6) They were outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep and poultry.
    7) No I do not believe they are extinct forever because there could still be traces of them. We could bring them back by following there traces.

  19. The normal name is Tasmanian tiger and the scientific name is Thylacine cynocephalus.
I think if it were a fabricated animal it would be a mixture of wolf, tiger and dog and kangaroo.
The Tasmanian tiger is not a mammal but a marsupial.
The adult Tasmanian tiger weighs about 15-30 kg. The Tasmanian tiger was about 58 cm tall.
Tasmanian tigers ate birds and other small creatures.
Tasmanian tigers were outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep.
I don’t think they are extinct. They could still find a few in the wild.
They could stop hunting for them and stop putting traps in the wild. Jason

  22. I think this animal is a hound.
The thylacinu is an animal not a mammal.
The animal kind of looks like a tiger and a hound combined.
Adults weighed from 15-30kg, and the thylacinu stood about 58cm (2') high at the shoulder.
The thylacinu ate birds and small animals like wallabies and kangaroos.
The thylacinu was outlawed and hunted because they started to attack sheep and poultry, and a bounty of one was put one each of their heads. I do not think they are extinct forever. They could us DNA to make one thylacinu. Nolen
